BOSTON - Bristol County prosecutor Katie Cook Rayburn was confirmed unanimously for a district court judgeship by the Governor’s Council Wednesday.

Governor’s Councilor Joe Ferreira, of Somerset, said Rayburn has “done an outstanding job” and Councilor Marilyn Devaney said Rayburn is “very qualified” for the position.

The Weymouth attorney has been deputy chief of the office’s Homicide Unit since 2014 and has worked as a prosecutor in Bristol County for about a decade, according to her resume.

A graduate of UMass Dartmouth and Suffolk University Law School, Rayburn also has experience at the defense table. She worked at the firms Grassia, Murphy & Whitney and the Law Office of Daniel W. O’Malley, and for the Plymouth County District Attorney.
