
Man Convicted in Fatal Assault at Bridgewater Treatment Center
PLYMOUTH (WBSM) — A man who fatally assaulted a fellow inmate at the Massachusetts Treatment Center in Bridgewater has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced that Michael Robinson, 47, was found guilty by a jury of one count each of involuntary manslaughter and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot). The verdict came following a six-day trial in Plymouth Superior Court and 11 hours of deliberations.

The Massachusetts Treatment Center is described on its website as “a medium security facility separately housing criminally sentenced male inmates identified as sex offenders and those who have been civilly committed as sexually dangerous persons.”

Details of the April 2021 Bathroom Altercation
On April 13, 2021, at about 10:38 p.m., corrections officers responded to a report of an altercation in a bathroom. They arrived to find the male victim, later identified as Scott Wonoski, 43, of Worcester, unresponsive and bleeding. Wonoski was given medical treatment at the scene before he was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where he was pronounced deceased.
Medical Examiner Rules Death a Homicide
An investigation into the incident began, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the manner of the death was homicide, caused by blunt force injuries of the head and torso. Video surveillance footage captured Robinson physically assaulting Wonoski before then exiting the bathroom.
Robinson is scheduled to be sentenced on January 9, 2026.
