BRIDGEWATER — A high school student in Bridgewater has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after reportedly lobbing her cell phone at a teacher.

The Brockton Enterprise reports that the teen was in gym class at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School on Friday when the gym teacher asked her to put her phone away. When she refused, the teacher asked her to turn her phone over. Police say the girl became verbally hostile and threw the phone, striking the teacher in the foot.

The teacher was not injured.

The school's superintendent has declined to comment on the alleged incident.
