BRIDGEWATER (WBSM) — Police are investigating after a parent received an anonymous phone call threatening a student at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School.

In a joint release, Bridgewater Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and School Superintendent Ryan T. Powers shared that the parent had received an anonymous call on Thursday afternoon threatening their child with a weapon.

Because of the threat, school officials ordered Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School students and staff to shelter in place, and then immediately notified police at around noon today.

According to a release, police “determined that there is no active threat to the school community and that the threat was not credible.”

Out of an abundance of caution, police conducted multiple searches of the building and did not find any weapons. The shelter-in-place order was lifted at about 1:45 p.m. and students were dismissed from school.

The incident remains under investigation by Bridgewater Police detectives and they are working to identify a suspect. As such, no charges have been filed at this time.

Earlier this week, Raynham Police determined there was no credibility to an alleged threat against a Raynham school that originated on social media.
