Boston Mayor Tom Menino is backpedaling after he said some unkind things about Detroit.

In an interview that touched on Detroit with the "New York Times," Menino said he would, quote, "blow the place up and start all over." He said when it takes 90 minutes for cops to respond to a call, there's something wrong.

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing released a statement saying he "would think the mayor of a city that recently experienced a deadly bombing attack would be more sensitive and not use the phrase 'blow up."

Menino's spokesperson said he obviously meant no ill will towards Detroit.
