Boston’s Fenway Park Holding a ‘Harry Potter’ Movie Night
If you've ever been at Fenway Park and thought that video board would make a great movie screen, then you are apparently right, because the Boston Red Sox are hosting a movie night this month and boy, is it a good one.
Wednesday August 18 is the 20th anniversary of the theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and to celebrate, Fenway is showing it on the massive 40-by-100-foot screen that sits centerfield under the John Hancock sign. It's going to be awesome.
I honestly love all that Fenway is doing this summer. It is one of the few local places holding concerts and now presenting a movie night, too. As a parent with young children still unable to be vaccinated, I definitely feel better about taking my kids to an outdoor movie than into a theater, and of course the chance to watch Harry Potter with them on a big screen is super cool, too.
So what can you expect from a Fenway Park movie night? Well, concessions of course. The classic Fenway franks, popcorn and much more will be available during the screening.
There's also select seating. Sitting on the Green Monster would be silly for this night at the park, so seats for Harry Potter are just being sold in the lower bowl and along the first base line for a best view of the big screen.
Fans are also going to be invited to walk the warning track. The gates will be opening at 6:15 p.m. and the film starts at 7:30 p.m., so keep your kids from getting to wiggly by taking them for a walk around the warning track. You'll be able to say you say Harry Potter on the big screen and got to be on the field at Fenway all in one night.
Plus, there's the costumes. Yes, fans are of course encouraged to dress up for watching Harry Potter. Get your robes, wands, glasses and painted-on lightening scars ready to go, because this is a Harry Potter movie experience like no other.
Ticket are just $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and totally free for season ticket holders. You can buy them while they last by calling (877) REDSOX-9 or visiting redsox.com/movienight.
