FALL RIVER — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Fall River early this morning.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, Fall River Police responded to 911 calls that reported a shooting in the area of Mott Street and Warren Street at around 11:25 a.m. this morning.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they located the victim, a 22-year-old male, and rushed him to St. Anne's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The D.A.'s Office says the investigation is extremely active at this time, and is being conducted by Fall River Police along with Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney's Office, as well as Homicide Unit prosecutors.

No further information is being released at this time, and the identity of the victim is behind withheld pending notification of next of kin.
