Attleboro Man Faces Murder Charge for Allegedly Stabbing Brother
ATTLEBORO (WBSM) — The Attleboro man accused of stabbing his brother on Memorial Day is now facing an upgraded murder charge, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
The new charge was officially filed this afternoon with the Attleboro District Court. James McCormick, 51, will be arraigned on the murder charge Friday morning.
Police were called to the area outside Melissa Drive around 3:25 a.m. on Monday for a reported disturbance in progress.
When police arrived, they located the victim, Richard McCormick, 47, outside of 5 Melissa Drive, suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was then rushed to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:06 a.m.
Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney's Office, Attleboro Police, and Homicide Unit prosecutors continue to investigate the homicide actively.
