If I’m being honest, I’m not really a figure skating fan. I’m an Olympics fan, but I’m not someone who seeks out figure skating on TV or goes to watch it in person.

There’s something different, however, about the idea of watching Team USA gold medalist figure skater Alysa Liu. Her backstory is incredible and inspirational to any young person who has ever felt that their own instincts were better than someone older telling them what to do.

America fell in love with Alysa after hearing the story of how she quit competitive skating at just 16 years old, only to return to the sport on her own terms. She decided that if she was going to skate again, she would do it her way.

She was not going to allow trainers to tell her what or how much to eat. She was not going to be told what songs to pick for her routine. This time, Alysa would be in charge. She welcomed guidance, but she would always have the final say.

I just loved the attitude, and Alysa’s instincts were clearly right, as evidenced by the gold medal around her neck and "The Star Spangled Banner" playing during the awards ceremony in Milan.

Alysa Liu Returns to the Ice After Olympic Gold

Liu’s first public performance after winning gold in Milan took place at the Skating Club of Boston. For many fans, it was the first chance to see the Olympic champion perform since her historic victory.

Where to See Alysa Liu Perform in Boston

If you missed that performance, you will have another chance soon. Liu is scheduled to skate next month when "Stars On Ice" comes to Boston University’s Agganis Arena.

The tour features several top figure skaters and Olympic athletes performing exhibition routines for fans.

Why Stars On Ice Tickets Are So Expensive

The only issue is that, like so many other shows and sporting events these days, affordable tickets are hard to find.

At the moment, the cheapest seats available start at about $438. If you want better seats closer to the ice, prices climb quickly, with some tickets approaching $1,000 each.

For many fans hoping to see Alysa Liu perform live after her Olympic gold medal win, it might require a pretty serious investment.
