A Tiverton man, accused of assaulting his girlfriend in New Bedford, was ordered held without bail Friday following his arraignment in Fall River Superior Court.

According to the Herald News, 53-year old Brian Jagielski pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery on a household member, assault with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and witness intimidation. He returns to court on October 25th.

Jagielski was arrested this summer at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago after more than a month on the run.

According to the District Attorney's office, the victim told police she had been verbally and physically assaulted for more than a year and a half.

In January, Jagielski allegedly held a piece of broken glass to the victim's neck and threatened to kill her. He then drove her to the Freetown State Forest where he threatened to bury her body in the woods.
