
Taunton Man and Brother Arrested in Connection With Abington Murder
UPDATE: Suzito Lopes pleaded not guilty to one count of murder and was ordered held without bail. Antonio Lopes pleaded not guilty to one count of murder and one count of possessing a firearm without an FID card. He was also held without bail. The two are due back in court on February 14.
BROCKTON (WBSM) — A pair of brothers, including one man from Taunton, have been arrested in connection with an alleged murder in Abington.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Abington Police Chief John Bonney announced that Suzito Lopes, 43, of Quincy and Antonio Lopes, 37, of Taunton are under arrest for the murder of Anthony Leverone, 43.
Suzito Lopes was arrested last night at a home in Brockton, while Antonio Lopes turned himself in to Abington Police this morning.
The brothers were expected to be arraigned today in Brockton District Court.

Leverone was found dead on December 27, 2024, after a family member contacted Abington Police at around 7:25 p.m. requesting a wellness check on him. Police and emergency medical personnel arrived at his residence at 563 Plymouth Street and found Leverone unresponsive in the backyard.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene, with the D.A.’s Office stating he sustained blunt force trauma and “high impact” injuries leading to his death.
