For sale: one turbulent cloud, silver lining included.

I received quite a few messages last week when I talked about the unexpected closing of Nate Lions Appliance World in Fall River. Without warning, the closing has left customers without the products they paid for. One of those unfortunate purchasers was the Salvation Army in Fall River. It was patiently waiting for $4,000 worth of appliances it prepaid to complete its renovations of the Gentle Arms shelter for women and children.

You can imagine the state of shock the Salvation Army was in. It was like a double whammy, between needing the appliances to get the final inspection needed to open the shelter and losing out on $4,000 worth of appliances it paid for.

So when the folks at Wickford Appliance heard about the dilemma, they said they'd donate the same appliances to the Salvation Army's shelter. It's moments like this that celebrate the best of humanity. Wickford Appliance doesn't even have a Fall River location. In fact, all six of their stores are in Rhode Island.

I look at this act of kindness as sheltering the shelter, and not to play on words, but in my opinion, Wickford Appliance is one of a kind.
