State transportation officials say that all work on major state roadways was halted as of noon Tuesday.

MassDot's Acting Secretary Frank DePaolo says that with the timing of Wednesday's snowstorm they didn't want construction projects to cause additional congestion on what are already the heaviest travel days of the year.

Work is scheduled to resume at the start of normal business on Monday.

Officials are urging travelers to adjust their plans to avoid the storm and to check MassDot statewide live traffic cameras before you travel.

Those who are flying out are advised to arrive at two and a half hours before the flight is scheduled to take off and to check the Massport website for any updates.
