A water main break this morning has flooded sections of MacArthur Drive in New Bedford.

Department of Public Infrastructure Commissioner Ron Labelle says the break occurred around 10:15 a.m. near the intersection with Elm Street causing some homes and businesses to temporarily lose water.

Labelle says crews are on the scene and hope to have the situation resolved in a few hours.

The roadway is open to local traffic only and Labelle is asking drivers to avoid the area for the time being.
