U.S. Rejects Philippines Bid To Hold Marine Charged With Murder
The U.S. will not let the Philippines take custody of a Marine charged with murder.
Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton is being held at an American jail at the main U.S. military base near Manila.
Pemberton, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, is charged with strangling a transgender Filipino two months ago.
The U.S. Embassy in Manila turned down the Philippines government's request today.
