BROCKTON (WBSM) — A suspect connected to the murder of a Brockton man was arraigned yesterday on multiple charges.

Donta Hood, 33, was arraigned on December 20 in Brockton District Court on one count each of murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a weapon within 500 feet of a building, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

He pleaded not guilty and was held without bail.

At approximately 6:17 p.m. on December 5, Brockton Police were notified about a shooting in the vicinity of 28 Lexington Street and Green Street.

Upon arrival, first responders located a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital before being airlifted to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, where he was pronounced deceased due to his injuries.

The victim was identified as Marvin Hill, 35, of Brockton.

On December 8, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Hood, and Massachusetts State Police began actively looking for him.

On December 20, 2023, Hood was located at a home in Assonet and was taken into custody. Hood is next scheduled to appear in court on January 25.
