Dozens of teachers appeared Monday night before the New Bedford School Committee, urging board members to vote against plans for two innovation schools slated to open next year in New Bedford.  One school is planned for Gomes Elementary.  The second would be located at Roosevelt Middle School.  Teacher Elaine Santos believes innovation schools will send the wrong message to students.

This teacher from Gomes urged the School Committee to see what's going on at her school, first hand.

Only one person spoke in favor of the innovation schools.  The innovation schools are scheduled to start next September.  The School Committee is scheduled to take a final vote in December.
