The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a flood watch from 5 p.m. today until 10:25 a.m. tomorrow. 

A soaking windswept rain is expected for much of Eastern Massachusetts, Southeast New Hampshire and Southeastern Massachusetts, including Southern Bristol and Plymouth counties, late this afternoon and into Thursday morning.

Heavy rain is expected to arrive between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. today and will continue through the night. It should taper off around midday Thursday.

While 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain is expected across the area, some places may get as much as 4 inches. The communities expected to get hit hardest are Fall River, New Bedford and Mattapoisett.
