With news that Shaquille O'Neal is looking to expand his Big Chicken chain into Massachusetts with six new locations, we think we know the perfect spot on the SouthCoast for him to open up shop.

Boston 25 reported that Shaq is opening up Big Chicken locations in Boston, the MetroWest, Cape Cod and the North Shore. No word on the exact locations, but we’re thinking Hyannis is the likely Cape spot.

If O’Neal wants to consider a SouthCoast restaurant, perhaps he should open up in Rochester. After all, that’s where he’s apparently been hiding away for quite some time.

Back in 2020, we told you about “Shaquille O’Neal’s Hideaway,” a parcel of land in Snows Pond in Rochester. We tried to get to the bottom of who gave it that name and why, but we came up as short as a Shaq free throw.

It looks like over the past three years, Google removed the label, and now it’s just a nameless island on Google Maps.

Shaq’s former hideaway aside, would a Big Chicken be a big deal on the SouthCoast? It certainly sounds tasty.

According to the chain’s website, “Big Chicken fuses O’Neal’s home-cooked childhood favorites with today’s trending flavors. From crispy chicken sandwiches and tenders to Cheez-It crusted mac n’ cheese and hand-crafted ice cream shakes, each menu item tells a story all while offering guests an inside look into the life and personality of Shaquille O’Neal.”

The restaurant chain also boasts its “Naked Truth premium chicken” is “preservative-free and humanely raised with no cages, no hormones and no antibiotics.”

If you want to try some Big Chicken ahead of its eventual Massachusetts openings, it is available to order through Goldbelly.
