Sen. Warren: Iraq Solution Must Be Negotiated
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren says the country doesn’t want another war in Iraq.
Warren made her comments to reporters at the Statehouse Friday as the U.S. unleashed its first airstrikes in northern Iraq against militants of the Islamic State group amid a worsening humanitarian crisis.
Warren said President Barack Obama decided to take targeted actions to provide humanitarian relief that the Iraqi government requested and to protect American citizens.
The Massachusetts Democrat said she agrees with Obama that any long term solution in Iraq has to be a negotiated solution, not military action.
But she said the country doesn’t want to be dragged into another war in the country.
Warren also warned that the air strikes are going to “change the mix” and that the situation will have to be monitored hour by hour.
