The Brayton Point Power Plant in Somerset has been sold.

Dynegy Inc. announced the purchase from Energy Capital Partners on their website Wednesday.

The sale of Brayton Point Point Holdings, LLC was part of a $3.35 billion transaction that also included the acquistion of Equipower Resources Corporation, which owns Dighton Power, LLC.

Dynegy says the purchase gives the Houston, Texas based company control of 10 generating stations capable of generating 6.3 gigawatts of electricity. Dynegy now owns nearly 20,000 MW operating in eight states.

The coal powered Brayton Point Power Plant is expected to close June 1, 2017.
