RICHARD – SASHA OBAMA MAKES HER FAMILY AND THE NATION PROUD

Tough break to be a teenager and the daughter of the President of The United States of America, especially when you are hired for your first job at a fast food joint.

15 year old first daughter Sasha Obama has been waiting on tourists at a Vineyard clam shack this week in advance of her family's vacation there which begins on Saturday.  Being 15 and showing up at your first fast food gig can suck enough but when you have six burly Secret Service Agents tagging along you stick out like a sore thumb.  Add to that the glare of the media spotlight and every little thing you do, right or wrong gets magnified and reported on.

The Obama's have done an exemplary job in protecting their daughters from the madness of public life, allowing them to remain children to the extent it is possible while living in the White House. But even the first kids grow up and must be allowed to  spread their wings. Sasha's older sister Malia will attend Harvard next year.

Props to the Obama's for raising two fine young women but special congrats are in order for Sasha, who really didn't need the job but wanted the experience of earning her own cash and being a part of a team of her peers out in the "real world."  It's very difficult for young women like Sasha and Milia to just blend into society and to live a "normal" life.  That's a sacrifice they make for having very public parents who chose to serve their country.  We thank the Obamas for their dedication to country and wish the girls much success in the future.
