TAUNTON — The woman who encouraged her Mattapoisett boyfriend to kill himself in July of 2014 is scheduled to appear in court once again Monday.

A judge in Taunton Trial Court will hear a request from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office to have 22-year-old Michelle Carter's stay of sentence revoked.

The motion was filed last week by Quinn's office.

Carter was convicted in 2017 of involuntary manslaughter in the suicide death of Conrad Roy III and was sentenced to 15-months in prison. She has remained free as she appeals her conviction, which was upheld in Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court last week. Prosecutors are asking that she begin serving her sentence immediately.

Carter was convicted of encouraging Roy through text messages to follow through with his suicide in a truck filled with carbon monoxide in a Fairhaven parking lot.

Attorneys for Carter say they may take her appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
