Pope Francis says Donald Trump "is not Christian." The pontiff was responding to the Republican presidential candidate's stance on illegal immigration. Speaking to reporters as he completed his trip to Mexico, the pope said that a person who thinks only about building walls and not building bridges, "is not Christian."

Asked if a good Catholic can vote for Trump, the pontiff said he would not get involved in that -- "only that this man is not Christian."

At a rally in South Carolina, Trump fired back saying the pope questioning someone's faith is "disgraceful." He also said he's proud to be a Christian.

Trump also said that if and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, he "can promise the pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been President" because this would not have happened.

He also said the Mexican government has made disparaging remarks about him to the pope, "because they want to continue to rip off the United States, both on trade and at the border."  (Metro Networks Inc.)
