So I was just minding my own business when CNN Headline News called to see if I would be willing to appear on one of their programs to defend an opinion piece I had written for WBSM.

The piece in question defended President Donald J. Trump's decision in June 2018 to withdraw an invitation issued to the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House.

It has been the tradition for several decades for championship sports teams to be honored by the sitting president. It's good for the team, the sport, and the fans. In recent years, some players have opted out because their political views didn't jibe with the occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

After winning the Super Bowl in February of 2018, the Eagles refused to commit to a date for the White House visit. Some players groused about Trump's remarks concerning kneeling during the national anthem.

Trump believes kneeling while the national anthem is played and the nation's colors are presented is disrespectful. I agree.

And so I appeared with Michaela Pereira live from the WBSM studios just minutes after wrapping up my daily talk show. Pereira was polite, but she disagreed with me and believed Trump to be an absolute ogre for withdrawing the invitation.

Here is a link to the actual interview I did with Michaela Pereira.

It was a fun experience, and I was glad she had enough class to contact me and treat me well while I was on her airwaves. Four months later, Pereira was canned by CNN Headline News – and I swear I had nothing to do with it!

At last check, the Canadian-born Pereira was working for KTTV Fox 11 in Los Angeles.
