Paula Deen Dropped From Food Network – Contract Won’t Be Renewed

After allegations of using racial slurs, Paula Deen has been dumped by the Food Network, the television channel announced on Friday.

CBS News reports that despite a video taped apology to fans, the Southern chef’s contract with the net work will not be renewed. The network released the following statement:

Food Network will not renew Paula Deen’s contract when it expires at the end of this month.

The controversy with Deen is stemming from some court depositions in which a former employee of Deen said that she frequently told racist jokes, and used racial slurs in the past. In the video apology, she says that her and her family aren’t like that and they don’t ‘care what the color of your skin is’.
