Over 1,000 Eversource customers in New Bedford woke up to find their homes without electricity this morning.

Eversource tells WBSM News the outage occurred before 6am this morning, with most of the homes affected located in the West End of the city. Jack Lopes with Eversource says an underground cable faulted, causing the outage.

Eversource has isolated the problem, and is working to restore power to those affected by the outage. The energy provider is investigating what caused the faulty cable.
