The CDC is pushing new guidelines for healthcare workers treating Ebola patients.

CDC director Tom Frieden announced three new procedures that he says should increase the margin of safety for those workers.

The first is making sure the doctors and nurses receive training and show they're ready to treat people infected with the deadly disease. The second is insuring that workers are covered from head to toe when they have contact with the patient, with no exposed skin at all. Third, Frieden said workers should be monitored as they put on and take off their protective gear to make sure safety protocols are followed.

Two nurses became infected with Ebola after treating Thomas Duncan, who was the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S. Duncan died earlier this month, and the two nurses are still being treated.

Dozens of people who were monitored for possible Ebola infection were recently given the all-clear.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
