NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in the city’s South End Wednesday evening.

New Bedford Police say officers responded to the area of Independent Street and Crapo Street at around 6:03 p.m. for a report of a stabbing with a male victim.

The male victim was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with injuries police say are not believed to be life-threatening.

Arrested in connection was Douglas G. Nunes, 45, of 116 County Street, Apartment 2 in New Bedford. He is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
