New Bedford Police continue to investigate a North End shooting that sent one man to the hospital Monday afternoon.

Lt. Jeannine Pettiford tells WBSM News the incident invlolving several people began around 4pm outside of Dublin's Sports Bar and Grille on Acushnet Avenue, spilling over to Tinkham Street outside of Lydia's Pastry Cafe. Police say several shots were fired in that area, striking one man in the chest and arm. The unidentified victim has been transported to Rhode Island Hospital. His condition is unkown.

Lt. Pettiford says two people were detained in connection with the shooting, and are being questioned by police. One of those individuals was led out of an apartment at 244 Tinkham Street, nearly two blocks from the scene of the crime.

Several stray bullets caused minor property damage to homes on Tinkham Street, and a motorized scooter parked outside of Lydia's has been impounded.

The shooting remains under investigation.
