New Bedford Police Investigating Early Morning Shots Fired

NEW BEDFORD - Officers responded to reported shots fired in the area of Acushnet Ave. and Russell St. at approximately 1:00 a.m. Sunday, according to a release from public information officer Lt. Amos Melo.

The city's Shot Spotter indicated four shots in the area and officers located five spent .40 cal shell casings after a preliminary investigation.

No damage or injuries were reported, though police are continuing to investigate the situation and ask anyone with information to call the department's tip line at 508-992-7463 or via email at tip@newbedfordpd.com.
