NEW BEDFORD — Street-level narcotics investigations by New Bedford Police led to a pair of arrests Tuesday.

At approximately 7:11 p.m., police say they observed an individual engaged in activities consistent with street-level drug sales in the area of 75 Church Street. Upon searching the individual, they found a small amount of crack cocaine.

Joshua M. Barbosa, 33, of New Bedford was arrested and charged with possession of a Class B substance, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Then, at about 10:17 p.m., police observed activity consistent with street-level drug sales and possession in the area of Ro-Art Liquors at 23 Rodney French Boulevard.

Police discovered three grams of suspected crack cocaine and arrested 43-year-old Felipe Ortiz Perez of New Bedford. He is charged with possession to distribute a Class B drug; possession to distribute a Class B substance, subsequent offense; unlicensed operation of a moped; operating a moped without a helmet; and failure to stop for police.
