NEW BEDFORD - A New Bedford police officer is taking it upon himself to lend a hand in Texas, where Hurricane Harvey caused extreme flooding.

Officer Donnie Williams is orchestrating a supply drive at the Police Station Headquarters Friday afternoon. Police will be on hand to collect donations including small personal care items, diapers and other baby needs, blankets, and even cash.

Officer Williams and several friends will then drive the truck to Texas to personally deliver the items.

Donations can be dropped off at the Police Station Headquarters at 871 Rockdale avenue from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
