New Bedford Commemorates 9/11
This year’s remembrance of September 11th, 2001 served as a call to community volunteerism in New Bedford.

City and State officials gathered in front of City Hall today, before a sizeable crowd, recalling the events of that day and the aftermath that has transformed the nation.
Mayor Jon Mitchell says the greatest way to pay tribute to those who died as a result of the terrorist attacks, is to be of service to your neighbor.

Representatives Tony Cabral and Keiko Orrall, along with City Council President Steve Martins also shared

their thoughts and memories of 9/11.
Mayor Mitchell also unveiled a piece of steel, recovered from the wreckage at Ground Zero, which will be on
permanent display in City Hall.
