Mitchell Makes Move To Extend Mayoral Terms

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell has made an official move to change the City's charter, allowing for four-year mayoral terms instead of the current two-year terms.

Mitchell presented the City Council with the proposal on Wednesday, saying the modification would bring stability to the City's executive branch, allow the mayor to focus on long-term improvements, and cutting down on the relative amount of time spent fundraising and campaigning for re-election
