New Bedford Clerk Thwarts Knife Wielding Robber With Sword

A young convenience store clerk fended off a robber yesterday morning. A white male suspect attempted to rob the Lucky 7 Grocery store at 639 County Street with a knife, demanding money from the clerk.

In response, the 24 year old clerk pulled out a sword that he kept behind the counter and the suspect fled. He’s described as about 40 years old, 5 foot 9 and weighing 250 pounds. He also had a brown mustache. The unidentfied clerk was unharmed. Anyone with information is asked to call New Bedford Detectives at 508-991-6300, ext 320.
