State Senator Mark Montigny of New Bedford belives it's time for the Legislature and Governor to take a close look at all expenses in the University of Massachusetts System.

The Mass. Senate debates its version of the state budget starting Wednesday, but so far the Senate version calls for $23 million less than the House budget for UMass.

Montigny tells WBSM News, UMass will likely get the money it needs to freeze tuition and fees for students next year, but its time to take a closer look at how the university spends its money....

UMass Student Trustees sent a letter to Senators this week, asking that they support more funding for the UMass System.
