WAREHAM — A Buzzards Bay man faces several charges after allegedly injuring two people with a knife early Monday morning.

At about 2 p.m. on Monday, Wareham Police responded to the Rosewood Motel on Cranberry Highway after receiving a report of two people who had been stabbed.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident had taken place at about 12 a.m. on Monday.

Police determined that the suspect, armed with a knife, had entered a motel room searching for a certain individual. The suspect allegedly shoved another person in the motel room and exited the room to confront the person he was looking for in the parking lot.

The confrontation led to the suspect stabbing the person in the parking lot multiple times before the individual from the motel room tried to intervene, resulting in the person being slashed several times before the suspect fled the area.

Officers were able to identify the suspect and located him at his place of employment at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Police arrested the man, Samuel J. Hackett III, 34, of Buzzards Bay.

Hackett is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (two counts), assault and battery (two counts), and armed assault in a dwelling.

Both victims were treated at Tobey Hospital.
