A new winter storm is looming for Massachusetts this weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for eastern Massachusetts along and east of the Interstate 95 corridor, including the Boston area.  A blizzard watch has been issued for coastal areas of the North Shore and Plymouth County, Cape Cod and nearby islands, where winds up to 35 mph could gust to 50 mph.

Eight to 10 inches of snow is expected in coastal southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod, with 6 to 8 inches in the Boston area and Cape Ann, and 4 to 6 inches to the northwest.

In New Bedford, the Mayor's Office says the Snow Emergency Parking ban will go into effect at 3pm Saturday afternoon

Lighter amounts are expected in central and western Massachusetts, where around a foot of snow fell during Thursday's storm.

The new snow is expected to begin Saturday afternoon and evening and wind down Sunday morning.  (Associated Press)
