The immigrant community is speaking out, trying to get local employers to improve and abide by safety regulations in the workplace.

In response to deaths and injuries in industrial settings, the Community Workers Center of New Bedford is launching a new campaign to get employers to sign a "Code of Conduct".

Speaking through a translator, Community Workers Center Executive Director Adrian Ventura explains.

Ventura says the campaign is not just in support of safe working conditions for immigrant workers, but for all workers in New Bedford.

He adds companies have been hesitant to improve machines and provide safety equipment because of the costs involved.
