Is Panhandling A Protected Freedom of Speech Liberty?
These days, everything is up for litigation like the issue of panhandling. Recently, Worcester, MA officials passed anti-panhandling ordinances, "including soliciting cash from motorists while standing in the street, on a traffic island and while walking in and out of traffic."
But the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts has sued the city for passing these laws saying they violate the First Amendment, specifically freedom of speech. Locally, callers were split on the issue. I feel comfortable with anti-panhandling zone laws. Do you agree with the ACLU or not?
