NEW BEDFORD - A motor vehicle stop leads to the arrest of a homeless man in New Bedford.

Police stopped the car for a violation in the area of Chancery and Maxfield Streets late Thursday morning and soon discovered that the passenger was a homeless man wanted in connection to the theft of two televisions that had been stolen from the Regency Towers in downtown New Bedford Tuesday.

The suspect, 39-year-old Louis Pacheco, fled from police on foot but was soon caught. Pacheco is charged with disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and two counts of larceny from a building.

The driver of the car was issued a citation for a motor vehicle violation.
