With Halloween quickly approaching, so many people will be looking to scary non-prescription contact lenses to look frightful. Well, wearer beware! The contacts could have scary consequences that can result in eye damage and pink eye, to name a few.

Eye care specialists are warning that non-prescription contacts could ulcerate the cornea, that's the clear dome of tissue over the iris - the part of the eye that gives your eye color. I looked and there are literally hundreds of places online to purchase these decorative lenses.

The FDA just put out a warning about these scary looking lenses with emphasis on the dangers on wearing them, including decreased vision! These non-prescription contact lenses have been the source of temporary blindness and conjunctivitis or pink eye. Remember, there are a lot of places that sell these scary effects, but prescriptions have been required for all contact lenses in America since 2005.
