While the internet is undoubtedly one of the greatest tools of the 21st century, some say it can be crippling to those who use it incorrectly.

A community conversation on Children and Social Media is taking place Thursday evening, with several guest speakers who are concerned about children's safety and overexposure to the internet.

Speaker Maria Martin is a concerned mother of two teenagers, and says she sees children lacking basic skills just about every day.

Also presenting at the conversation is Assistant Bristol County District Attorney Robert DiGiantomaso, who will discuss cyber-bullying and sexting, and the legal and social consequences of online interaction.

The conversation is being held Thursday night at 6pm the Gifts to Give factory on Titleist Drive in Acushnet.
