Military veterans are reacting with disgust after someone stole a flag from atop a memorial erected to honor those who served in World War II.

Police in Fall River say they don't have any suspects in the theft, which occurred as families were stopping by the city's Iwo Jima Memorial in Bicentennial Park to reflect and lay flowers on Veterans Day.

WJAR-TV reports the city replaced the flag almost immediately Tuesday — but veterans are decrying not just the theft but the timing.

Vietnam veteran John Raymond calls the act a disgrace and says whoever is responsible doesn't understand the significance of the flag. Another resident, Walter Machado, calls the thief "a horrible person."
