Federal Agents Raid New Bedford Seafood Wholesaler, Investigation Underway

NEW BEDFORD - A New Bedford seafood wholesaler is under federal investigation.

A multi-agency raid was conducted late Thursday morning at Lou-Joe's Fresh Seafood on Washburn Street. Members of the IRS Criminal Investigations unit, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration were seen going in and out of the building before noon.

Officials at the scene would not comment on the investigation. The nature of the investigation is unknown at this time.

The IRS has confirmed to WBSM News that there is an ongoing investigation, but all agencies contacted by WBSM have refused to comment at this time.
