Fall River traffic officers have issued a total of 1,780 parking tickets since last Friday for people who violated the two citywide parking bans during two recent winter storms.

Also, the city towed seven cars to allow emergency vehicles to pass on some roads.

According to The Herald News, the first parking ban was in effect from 11pm Thursday to Friday evening and that’s when the city tagged 1,300 vehicles for violating the parking ban.

The number of tickets issued during the second parking ban on Monday plummeted to 480 tickets.

By Massachusetts state law, motor vehicle owners have 21 days from the date of the ticket to pay the amount in full if they do not appeal. The amount for violating a citywide parking ban is $40.
