Fall River Man Arrested for Allegedly Shooting Man in the Legs
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Fall River Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting in which another man was shot in both of his legs.
The incident took place on October 6 at about 11:30 p.m. Police responded to the 500-block of Rodman Street for a report of shots fired.
Officers arrived to find a 55-year-old victim who had been shot in each of his legs. He was able to provide police with the location of where the shooting took place, and officers were able to retrieve several shell casings from the site.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.
Detective Adam Talbot of the Major Crimes Division led the investigation that identified Deandre Haskett, 24, as the person allegedly responsible for the shooting.
On October 18, Haskett was arrested and is charged with assault and battery with a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license to carry, carrying a loaded firearm without a license to carry, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and vandalism.
Haskett has had previous run-ins with the law. In 2019, when he was 19 years old, Haskett was featured on the Fall River Police Department’s “Top 10 Most Wanted” list in connection with the stabbing of a 23-year-old man.
Haskett later turned himself into police for that crime.
