Fairhaven Police Searching for Missing Teenage Girl with Child

UPDATE: Fairhaven Police report via Facebook that Sonia and Juan Ruiz have been located.

FAIRHAVEN — Authorities are actively searching for a missing teenage girl and her two-year-old son.

In a Facebook post, Fairhaven Police say 17-year-old Sonia Cux Ruiz went missing or ran away from a Fairhaven foster home Saturday night July 6 with her child.  She is believed to have taken her son, two-year-old Juan Cux Ruiz, with her.

Police say the two may be with the child’s paternal grandfather, 36-year-old Ramiro Morente-Hernandez, who works in Bourne and has been seen in the area over the past few days. His last known address was in New Bedford and is believed to have been to the city recently. He may also be working along the waterfront or fish houses in New Bedford.

Hernandez drives a grey Honda Odysessy, registered in Massachusetts under the plate 4CN853.
