I've said it before on my show. I understand every single concern people have with the two enormous LNG storage tanks being proposed off of Peckham Rd. in Acushnet. And I don't disregard any of those concerns. They're legitimate.

However, I have close to utmost faith in Eversource that they would build these tanks with extreme caution and safety in mind. Take a look at the safety and security measures for LNG facilities. Safeguards and failsafes to the teeth. They don't build these things to fail.

My bigger concern is how vulnerable are these tanks to attack? These tanks will be 90 yards in circumference and 170 feet high. Pretty big targets. Again, they're built with security and safety in mind. But could they still be vulnerable to a well coordinated attack. Could they withstand the impact of a Boeing 747, or a car loaded with C4?

LNG is not explosive, but the vapor is. And there is vapor under pressure in those tanks. And it would be quite a mess to clean up. If the project is approved, I say we need to have another look at protecting these tanks not only from the ground, but the air, as well.
